01 Information We Collect

1.1 Document Content You Import

TapCopy lets you import publicly shared Google Docs by pasting a document link. The app fetches the plain-text export of that document directly from Google's servers to your device. This content is stored locally on your device (in the app's local database) so you can resume a session later. We do not upload, transmit, or store your document content on any server we control.

1.2 Clipboard Data

TapCopy's core function is copying document segments to your device clipboard so you can paste them elsewhere. This clipboard interaction happens entirely on your device. We do not read, log, or transmit clipboard contents to any server.

1.3 Usage Analytics (Firebase Analytics)

We use Firebase Analytics (provided by Google) to understand how the app is used in aggregate — for example, which screens are viewed, how many segments are typically generated, and which settings are changed. This data is anonymized and tied to an app-instance identifier, not to your name, email, or any personally identifying account.

We do not collect your document content, document titles, or document URLs through analytics events under any circumstance. Any event that includes a system-generated error message is automatically stripped of URLs and document identifiers, and truncated, before being sent — this is enforced in code at a single, app-wide point so it cannot be bypassed by an individual event call.

1.4 Crash and Diagnostic Data (Firebase Crashlytics)

We use Firebase Crashlytics to automatically collect crash reports when the app encounters an unexpected error. These reports include device information (model, OS version), app version, the exception type, and a stack trace, which helps us identify and fix bugs.

Before any crash report is sent, the app automatically removes URLs and Google Doc identifiers from the underlying error message — this scrubbing happens in code, not as a manual or optional step, so document links cannot end up in a crash report. Crash reports never include your document content or clipboard data, since the app never reads that data into the error-reporting path in the first place.

1.5 Remote Configuration (Firebase Remote Config)

TapCopy uses Firebase Remote Config to remotely control certain app behaviors, such as enabling or disabling the app, enforcing a minimum supported version, and (if enabled) requiring an invite code for access.

Using this feature requires your device to contact Firebase's servers to fetch configuration values. No personal data is sent as part of this request beyond what's automatically included in any network request (such as your IP address, which Google may use for routing and which we do not separately store).

1.6 Invite Codes

If invite-code access is enabled, the code you submit is checked against a value retrieved from Remote Config and, if valid, is stored locally on your device so you aren't asked again. Invite codes are not personal information and are not linked to your identity.

1.7 Notification and Preference Data

Your app preferences (theme, language, notification settings, etc.) are stored locally on your device only. They are not transmitted to us.

02 How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

• Operate core app functionality (importing and segmenting documents, clipboard transfer)
• Diagnose and fix crashes and bugs
• Understand aggregate feature usage to guide future development
• Control app availability and minimum version requirements remotely
• Restrict access where invite-only distribution is enabled

03 Third-Party Services

TapCopy uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

• Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config) — see Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy
• Google Docs — when you import a document, your device contacts Google's servers directly to retrieve the document's plain-text export, governed by Google's Privacy Policy

We do not use any other third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

04 Data Storage and Retention

Document content and session data are stored locally on your device using a local database (Room/SQLite) and are retained until you delete them within the app or uninstall the app. Analytics and crash data collected via Firebase are retained according to Google's standard Firebase data retention policies, which you can review in Google's documentation.

05 Your Choices

• You can delete any imported document session at any time from the Home screen.
• You can disable the Persistent Notification feature in Settings.
• Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored document content, sessions, and preferences from your device.
• Firebase Analytics collection is governed by your device-level Google Analytics opt-out settings where applicable.

06 Children's Privacy

TapCopy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not require an account or collect personal identifiers such as name or email at any point.

07 Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information processed by the app, including relying on Google's infrastructure for Firebase services. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

08 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
